Design
and Drafting
Syllabus
Mr. Davis OCSA
This class will cover two areas and
have assignments specific to each area.
Drafting
The
objective is to give you a good working knowledge of computer aided drafting
using AutoCAD and its application to theatrical designs. We will be concentrating on basic skills and
applications. You will be able to use
the laptop computers individually during class and when available during lunch
sessions.
The
way to learn any computer program is to use it a lot. There will be assignments given almost every
class. All these assignments are due the
following class.
LATE ASSIGNMENTS
WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED!!!
Do
Not Assume that only one copy of your work is a good idea.
Assignments
will be submitted one of three ways- jump drive, Davis drive on the drop box, or printed. The form
in which you will submit the assignment will be specified when the assignment
is given.
Design
We
will cover the design process from start to finish. You do not have to be an artist, you do not
have to draw, you do not have to paint.
You must have an open mind and you must try!
The
designer speaks in a unique language and we will learn
that language in this class. It is
important that you can communicate as a designer and understand when a designer
talks to you.
Some
of the areas we will cover include- the collaborative process, the production
timeline, historical periods and styles, dreaming
without constraints, working within constraints, and surviving in the
entertainment industry.
Portfolio
All
students will create an online portfolio of their work. This will involve learning to work in HTML,
and this will be a continuing project as all Tech students must submit their
updated portfolio at the end of every year.
